AMTA Technical Visit, Tuesday 13 April 2010

On Tuesday afternoon of the conference there will be a Technical Tour to the Astronomy Observatory Fabra sponsored by AMTA.

Observatori Fabra (Fabra Observatory) is an astronomical observatory located in Barcelona. It's the fourth most ancient observatory in the world that is still functioning.

It was established in 1904 and belongs to the Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona. Its main activities are
- T
he study of asteroids and comets
- Observation of Double Stars
- Participation in international programs focusing on the study and tracking of asteroids

It also collects meteorological data from weather stations.

Although the technical visit is free to attend, places are strictly limited to 50 participants and will be filled up on a first come first served basis. 

Programme

Tuesday 13 April 2010

Scientific visit to the museum and Fabra observatory, guided by an Astronomer. The visit includes the Bus trip from and to the Conference Centre. Dinner is not included in the visit.

The departure will be at 19 hours and the arrival to the Conference Centre at 22 hours.
